Hi! I'm Laurel.
Hi! I'm Laurel.
When I founded Art for the Heart in 2024, my mission was simple: to make arts education accessible, affordable, and attainable for all students, regardless of socioeconomic circumstances, and to emphasize the importance of arts education not as a secondary curriculum, but as an essential to building our next generation of great innovators, leaders, and role models.
I discovered my passion for musical theatre through a small arts program at my public elementary school, giving me the opportunity to experience the transformative nature of arts education firsthand. The access I had to dance classes and school arts programs cultivated my love for the arts and gave me friendship, joy, confidence, and purpose. Those opportunities ultimately led to my acceptance into one of the nation’s top musical theatre programs at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
I firmly believe that the arts are fundamental to teaching empathy, developing motor skills, and nurturing imagination and resourcefulness. At a time when innovation and creativity are highly valued, arts education encourages children and teens to think outside the box and stand out, equipping them with a skill set that transcends the classroom.
When we invest in the arts, we’re not only nurturing future performers, painters, and musicians; we’re building more confident, empathetic, innovative, and resilient leaders for tomorrow. Showcasing our vibrant arts community throughout our nation is integral to celebrating creativity, inspiring young artists, and advocating for greater access to arts education for all children.
